Title : Genomics Approach for Microbiome Therapeutics

Abstract : There were dramatically increased interests on human microbiome research worldwide. While human ecosystems is maintained through mutualistic relationship between host and microbiota, human microbiota is certainly to play a crucial role in development and function of the immune system. Recent advances in metagenomics and metabolomics techniques provide the enormous amount of evidences of specific microorganisms and their functions for controlling the host immune and metabolic status. Particularly, a number of recent studies indicated that gut microbiota and their metabolites play an important role in educating and modulating the host immune system. Currently, a number of research groups are vigorously investigating to identify the etiological agents of microorganisms and their metabolites for various diseases and to develop the novel drugs using these substances. This talk will help to understand the current status and predict the future application of microbiome therapeutics.
